Menu Plan Monday

We are trying to cut our food budget by around 100.00 this month. The first thing I’ve done is to use what we have. I’m really bad about making sure I have more than enough, and cook for an army! lol! Things must change around here, but I’m not sure how all of it will go.

This week I’m cooking these meals from my freezer and pantry, without buying much more than I must have to complete the meal.

  • Monday: NY Strip (about $8 for 6 steaks) Baked Potatoes and Salad
  • Tuesday: Grilled Chicken, pasta salad
  • Wednesday: Grilled Pork Chops, mashed Potatoes and salad
  • Thursday: Mexican
  • Friday: Homemade Pizza
  • Saturday: Homemade Vegetable Beef Soup, homemade bread
  • Sunday: Chicken and Dumplings

  1. We had the problem of cooking too much when it became just the two of us. It took at least 2 years before we started doing better, just in time for our YD and granddaughter to move in with us while DSIL is deployed to Afghanistan. Now we need to quickly get used to cooking more again!

  2. You can definitely cut $100 this month, especially if you already have a stocked freezer and pantry! Do a pantry challenge and eat through things that might otherwise expire, and then search out the grocery deals in your town. Do you have a Grocery Outlet or other overstock grocery store? How about a bread outlet? Those two have saved me a ton!

Is your farmer’s market still going? Head over at the very end of the day and offer to take the less gorgeous fruits and veggies left for a reduced price. They taste the same cut up in soup or casserole! 🙂

  3. Friday pizza night is on everyone’s meal plan this week! It’s such an easy meal after a hectic week. Have a good one!

  4. I used to do the same thing! I have cut down on the portions I cook, and when there are leftovers I MAKE SURE that I eat them for lunch the next day so that nothing is wasted.

    Best of luck!
